“…but, who won?” A Policy Statement

I’ll keep this one kind of quick. It seems like after every contest we run that is announced on the web site, a lot of folks will write in or tweet, “Who won?” I send about the same response every time, so I wanted to post that here and try to explain why.

Spiral Radio101 is, above all, a podcast. We record a digitally-distributed audio show on a bi-weekly basis in which we discuss news in the Wizard101 and Pirate101 universe, as well as a look at video gaming beyond the Spiral. Where many fansites write blog posts on Spiral news, rumor, and opinion, we record our discussions and distribute them over the Internet. It’s true we occasionally write blog posts, but our site’s raison d’être is to provide a home for our podcast.

I like to announce most of our contests on both the podcast and the website – it gives us an opportunity to “spread the wealth” around. KingsIsle is very generous with prize codes, and we want to try and reach as many wizards and pirates as possible. However, the only arena in which we actually announce winners is on the podcast.

The podcast is available on iTunes, Stitcher Radio, and here at spiralradio101.com. Christina and I put a good bit of work into the podcast, have a lot of fun doing it, and we really hope you’ll download or stream it and give it a listen. If you’re not into listening to podcasts, no worries; for most of our contests we’re happy to award prizes to anyone in the KingsIsle community.

I know a lot of the folks who contact us are wondering if they’ve won, and I don’t blame them one bit. It’s fun and exciting to win, not to mention the prizes are usually pretty rad. If that’s what your looking for, there’s really just one takeaway point from this whole post:

If you have not been notified that you were a winner by the Thursday evening following a show, you were not a winner.
