Spiral Radio101 #9 Postponed

Hey everyone, I’m sorry to announce that we won’t be doing a live show this Wednesday, February 26. Christina’s school schedule has shifted into high gear and I have a new job-type thing (in addition to my current day job) that’s requiring a little more work than I thought it might.

The good news is my new job-type thing is pretty awesome and I think everybody will be kind of excited about it when it goes public. 😉 (No, I didn’t get hired on at KI, but, you know, I am available…)

So we’re sorry there won’t be an episode recorded live on February 26, and we’ll be back with you on March 12th!

(Editing tonight, for realz! I had some serious technical issues over the weekend and came this close to losing the audio from our last show. Hopefully we’ll have episode 8 posted on the site and on iTunes by tomorrow.)

What’s In a Game? Exceptionally Evil Exploiting

Exploits

After running Power Core last night in DCUO, I’ve had a lot rattling around in my brain.  When that kind of thing happens, I like to take up the virtual pen and write about it, letting you all know what’s up and what I’m thinking about.  As such, this week’s What’s In a Game? segment will revolve around a topic that isn’t a new game.  Today we’re talking about Exploits.

The Blatant Plug REDUX (AND NOW ON SALE!)

Guns of Icarus Online, blah, blah, blah – stop talking about this game we don’t own. Blah, blah, blah. I understand…this may be of interest to me and…no one else, but…well, tough.

Right now at groupees.com you can own Guns of Icarus Online for a buck. One dollar. I confirmed the validity of the site and it’s on the up-and-up. You also get some cool clothes for your avatar and the soundtrack, which is pretty awesome if I do say so myself.

So if you’re keen to see if I’m spot on about an awesome game or if I’m absolutely bonkers, have a peek. The $1 bundle on groupees.com not only gets you G of I, but it gets you a handful of other games on Steam as well. Bear in mind the games vary in ESRB ratings and may not be suitable for all ages. Guns of Icarus Online is rated T for Teens by the ESRB. Sale ends on February 19th.

Clear skies!

What’s In a Game? The Secret World

TSW

We all knew it would happen eventually, right?  I did say back in the beginning that the majority of games I cover here would be free to play.  Well…this isn’t one of those. It’s got a payment model similar to KingsIsle’s Pay-by-Zone or SOE’s DLC options, though, so it’s not completely out of the ballpark.

tswThe Secret World is an MMORPG in which you join one of three secret organizations (the Templars, Illuminati, or Dragon) to try and save the world from the “Secret War” going on all around us.  After a series of interesting events take place, your character has the ability to see through the veil and has some understanding of what’s really going on.  Oh, and because you’re all probably wondering, the ESRB rating is M for Mature on the grounds of Blood, Partial Nudity, Sexual Content, Strong Language, Use of Drugs, and Violence.  I want to be perfectly clear here; do not play this game unless you are of the intended age.  These warnings are there for a reason, and I can confirm all of them first hand.
